SAVNAC watches are a graphic design project of About Time, made with Homestead Ltd, Tokyo. The watch itself is an artist’s canvas, interpreted differently for each series.
This set of dials is printed from original drawings by British artist Taylor Silk. Taylor’s main artistic practice is currently focused around rug making; the tactile aspect of rug making turns images into objects that are intended to be touched and interacted with. The work explores Taylor’s own sexuality and she uses her image making to express a counter opinion to a heavily conservative schooling environment where she was constantly in trouble for expressing interest in queer and alternative cultures and literature.
The simple 40mm satin-finished black plastic watch head is fitted onto a matching 18mm black silicon strap using standard spring bars, and can be switched for other 18mm straps. The quartz movement is made in Japan, and the watch is assembled in China.
