The Elephant Ear satchel is cut from a single piece of heavy fabric bound around the edges with ecru cotton and folded up, with an ear at each side, riveted through to the back with a brass eyelet.
An inner cotton bag is fastened into the open edge of this cradle, which supports and protects the bag, while leaving it open to expand from the sides, and allowing the cradle to also hold a folded coat, umbrella, or newspaper.
The Elephant Ear Satchel is supported on a single cotton webbing strap, adjustable with sand-cast solid brass loops. The weight and length of the rounded flap allows it to sit closed comfortable, even when the bag is full.
