Knitted cardigans, pullovers, and hats, are made with weaving yarn taken from the production of Tender’s Calico cloth. Spun for weaving, the yarn untwists slightly as it is knitted, giving the fabric a particularly pronounced texture.
A fisherman’s rib stitch is usually used with much thicker-gauge woollen yarn, and is designed to open out when it is worn. These cotton garments appear short when they are new, but will stretch down and form to their owner as they are worn in, much like hand-knitted garments, or raw denim jeans.
